Lynn Davidson, who has directed Friend of the Court operations at Macomb County Circuit Court for 14 years, is planning to retire in January.
Davidson began working in the office of the Friend of the Court in 1969.
“Lynn’s 45 years of hard work, dedication and exemplary performance has made Macomb County’s Friend of the Court a leader in the field, as acknowledged by her recent award from the Michigan Family Support Council,” said Macomb County Circuit Court Chief Judge John C. Foster.
Davidson began working as a judicial service office in 1983. In 1999, she was promoted to IV-D manager at the Friend of the Court and assumed the directorship in 2000.
"Lynn has spent the past 45 years with the Friend of the Court in dedicated service to the families of Macomb County, said Thomas Blohn, Friend of the Court Enforcement Division director. “With her strong
leadership, she steered the office through some major changes that helped increase efficiency and allowed for better service.”
He said the families of Macomb County “are better off today because of the job she's done."
Jennifer Phillips said Davidson was a great help to her when Phillips took over as court administrator in 2010.
“It's hard for me to imagine not having Lynn as the FOC,” said Phillips. “She welcomed me openly when I came to circuit from my district court background and helped me learn the ropes at FOC. I have learned a lot from Lynn and will miss having her here as both a friend and colleague,”
Court officials said Davidson helped push forward many major changes in her time as the FOC. In 2003, FOC began using the state mandated child support enforcement system which involved significant changes in how the FOC operated.
In 2005, Davidson spearheaded the implementation of an imaging system. The end result, officials said, was a significant increase in the office’s efficiency that allowed for better service.
Davidson received a bachelor of science degree in Labor Relations and Human Resources from Wayne State University and her law degree from the Detroit College of Law.
A farewell open house is planned at the county courthouse in January. Details will be released at a later date, official said.
