Veterans' treatment court honors graduates

A ceremony was held recently at the Macomb County Circuit Courthouse for recent graduates of the county’s Veterans’ Treatment Court (VTC). The court began operations six years ago to help veterans of the armed forces who are charged with crimes obtain treatment or other services to address underlying problems. Among those on hand to congratulate the graduates were (from left): Larry Rocca, Macomb County treasurer; William Bailey, Michigan Department of Corrections probation agent; Circuit Court Judge Joseph Toia; 41A District Court Chief Judge Steven Sierawski; Circuit Court Judge Michael Servitto; Elizabeth Darga, Macomb County undersheriff; Lori Menzie, VTC coordinator; Capt. David Kennedy, Macomb County Sheriff's Office; Christina Landino, VTC therapist; John Walus, circuit court mentor coordinator; and Lisa Ellis, court services director. Servitto took over the docket in October from Judge Mark Switalski, who started the program in 2012.
