Getting together to plan ahead
April 19, 2024Members of the Privately Held Business Forum, which is part of the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section, met earlier this month to begin planning for the 2025 Business Law Symposium. The seventh annual event is scheduled for February 25 at a location to be determined, according to Troy attorney Mark Rossman, who has served as moderator and an organizer of the event since its inception.

ACLU: Parental consent law harms young people
April 19, 2024A Michigan law that requires a young person to obtain parental consent to have an abortion threatens the health and safety of youth in the state and violates their human rights, according to a new report released recently by Human Rights Watch, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan, and the Michigan Organization on Adolescent Sexual Health (MOASH).

Center backs legislation to protect judges from threats
April 19, 2024The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) and judicial partners support new legislation designed to assist state courts in addressing escalating threats of violence against judges, court staff, and the public. The Countering Threats and Attacks on Our Judges Act was introduced in tahe U.S. Congress last month to protect the estimated 30,000 judicial officers serving in state and local courts.

April 19, 2024The Crime Victim Rights Unit of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is planning an event on Friday, April 26 aimed at helping those impacted by crime.
“Options, Services and Hope for Crime Survivors” is funded by a federal grant and is free to the public. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Velocity Center, 6633 18 Mile Road in Sterling Heights.
