Focus on diversity

 The Metropolitan Detroit Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) conducted its induction of board officers during its Thursday, April 21, meeting at the Skyline Club in Southfield.  

The meeting also featured national ALA President Elect and Region 3 Director Steven Wingert (second from left) of Marshall, Gerstein, & Borun in Chicago as guest speaker discussing the topic of diversity.  

On hand to welcome Wingert were (left to right) ALA Director of Business Partner Relations Denise Doherty of Sommers Schwartz PC, ALA Treasurer Karen Comfort of Vandeveer Garzia PC, ALA President Lois Martin of Secrest, Wardle, Lynch, Hampton, Truex, & Morley PC; ALA Assistant Treasurer Sue Worosz of Asker Perlmuter PLC; Michael Kapler with meeting sponsor IKON; ALA Director of Meeting and Publicity Vivian Straffon and ALA Director of Membership Rhonda  Harris, both with Miller, Canfield, Paddock, and Stone PLC; ALA Vice President/President Elect Beth Lockwood with Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell, & Tayler PC; and ALA Immediate Past President Lyn Calu of Bowman and Brooke LLP.  

The ALA board’s main goal is to promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of all chapter member in the legal community.  One of ALA’s organizational goals is to increase awareness of and sensitivity to diversity with the association and in the legal management community.
