Jury finds neglect against mother in custody case

DETROIT (AP) -- A Detroit mother who took her 13-year-old, physically handicapped daughter off an anti-psychotic drug and later refused to allow police to remove the girl from their home has been found in neglect. WDIV-TV reports that a Wayne County juvenile court jury reached the verdict Wednesday against Maryanne Godboldo. Godboldo is seeking to regain custody of her daughter who's living with Godboldo's sister. Godboldo says she's disappointed by the jury's decision. She told The Associated Press in May that she stopped giving her daughter the drug and replaced it with a holistic treatment. She's accused of firing a gun inside her home in March, starting a 12-hour standoff with police. Godboldo faces charges of discharging a weapon, felonious assault, and obstructing an officer.
