Conviction upheld for man who ran over wife

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) -- The Michigan appeals court has upheld the negligent homicide conviction of a Berrien County man who ran over his wife after a party in 2009. There's no dispute that Scott and Debra White were drunk. Scott White claims he accidentally ran over his wife after she jumped out of his truck during an argument. The prosecutor say Debra White was behind the vehicle and was struck twice. The appeals court said Wednesday that there's really no distinction when determining guilt under Michigan's negligent homicide law. White was sentenced to five years' probation. He was acquitted of involuntary manslaughter. Published: Mon, Oct 10, 2011
