Foley & Mansfield encourages mission trip

Foley & Mansfield PLLP, a national law firm with offices in Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, New York, Oakland, Seattle and St. Louis, has announced that it is sponsoring a firm-wide mission trip to Guatemala. Nineteen employees, ranging from case clerks to senior partners, will be heading to Durazno, Guatemala, for a week-long service trip in January 2012. Their mission will be to build latrines in this remote village. Durazno is a small community made up of 75 families. It is located in the mountains about three hours from Guatemala City. Partnering with Bridge Builders, BPD (Bienestar, Progreso, Desarollo), a local NGO, and with families in the community, the team from Foley & Mansfield will offer each family in the community the opportunity to significantly reduce health problems. Currently many families do not have a latrine or a suitable, clean latrine due to a lack of money. The firm has raised money to pay for the building materials so that each family will enjoy a latrine in its own yard. Detroit Partner Bill Osantowski says, "I think it is important for each of us to do something that has a positive impact on the world community, no matter how small. I am especially proud that we are able to accomplish this as members of Foley & Mansfield." Published: Thu, Dec 15, 2011
