Lawmakers return to Capitol in mid-January
LANSING (AP) -- Michigan state lawmakers are scheduled to resume sessions at the state Capitol on Jan. 11.
Both the Senate and House are expected back in session that day. The most recent voting session was held on Dec. 15.
A key event for the Legislature in early 2012 will be attending Gov. Rick Snyder's "State of the State" address scheduled for Jan. 18.
Lawmakers approved 323 new laws in 2011. That's an above average number for the first year of a two-year legislative session.
Far more bills typically are approved in the second year of a legislative session.
