Genisys sponsors College & Financial Aid Night
Genisys Credit Union was the Presenting Sponsor for Waterford School District's College and Financial Aid Night on Monday, Jan. 23, at Waterford Mott PAC.
The seminar was a success with more than 700 people in attendance. Representatives from a variety of colleges and universities discussed financial aid and gave their perspective on the college experience.
Four breakout sessions were held, which covered what college admission representatives look for in new students, the Oakland to Oakland program that allows students to attend Oakland Community College and Oakland University simultaneously, selecting a college, and financial aid FAQs.
Waterford Mott and Kettering counselors also hosted a Career & College table in the lobby and an EXPO was held so that students could get one-on-one time with numerous college and military representatives.
"This seminar was a great way to prepare students and parents for higher education," said Jackie Buchanan, Genisys CEO. "With the rising costs of tuition, being organized and knowledgeable about the process helps families stick to a manageable budget."
Lending Manager Jessica Roshek was onsite to hand out financial information and discuss the student loan options available at Genisys.
"Many families don't qualify for enough federal aid or any at all, which can be both stressful and challenging when trying to figure out how to finance college tuition," said Roshek.
"This is a great opportunity for them to hear about how our Student Choice Loan Program can help when federal aid falls short."
Genisys also invited Sam's Club and Buffalo Wild Wings, both located in Waterford, to provide refreshments for the event as part of their sponsorship.
