Artwork sought for new hospital patient tower

PONTIAC (AP) -- St. Joseph Mercy Oakland is seeking artwork from Michigan artists.

Submissions will be considered for future purchase or commission for the Pontiac hospital's new South Patient Tower, scheduled to open in 2014.

A committee is looking for pieces that follow guiding principles of healing art and evoke messages of peace and healing. They will be placed in the main lobby, elevator lobbies, waiting rooms, corridors, patient rooms and other areas.

A variety of forms, including sculptures, paintings, prints, mosaics, glass and photography will be considered. The deadline for submissions is March 26.
