Judge sets hearing for Detroit review team case

MASON, Mich. (AP) -- An Ingham County judge has set a new hearing related to the actions of the state-appointed review team that is analyzing the city of Detroit's troubled finances. Ingham County Circuit Judge William Collette's office in Mason said Tuesday a hearing is set for March 22. Collette has ruled that the review team must comply with Michigan's Open Meetings Act. A similar hearing scheduled for early this week wasn't held. The issue took on new urgency Tuesday with the state's announcement of a proposed a consent agreement for the financially troubled city. The review team hasn't voted on the proposed agreement. Lawyer Andrew Paterson represents union activist Robert Davis, who challenged the closed meetings. Paterson says it's possible the review team may be violating Collette's order and could face contempt charges. Published: Thu, Mar 15, 2012
