Man guilty of murder; victim stabbed 132 times
MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) -- A Macomb County jury has convicted a Detroit man of first-degree murder on accusations he stabbed a Warren man 132 times during a robbery that targeted gay men.
The jury found 20-year-old Andrew T. Clark guilty Wednesday. It also convicted him of larceny in a building, arson and auto theft.
Assistant Prosecutor Chad Davis told jurors that Clark was a remorseless killer who ignored pleas for life from 57-year-old Robert Miller Jr.
Authorities say Clark also stole jewelry and other items from Miller's condo. They say Clark took Miller's Nissan Maxima and torched it.
Defense lawyer Randy Rodnick asked jurors to consider a less-serious charge of second-degree murder.
Sentencing is April 24. The law requires Judge James Biernat Jr. to give Clark life in prison without of parole.
