Son bound over in Troy father's brutal death

TROY (AP) -- A 22-year-old suburban Detroit man has been bound over on open murder in connection with the brutal beating death of his father. A judge on Monday also ordered a request by Patrick Mikes Jr.'s defense lawyer to suppress evidence found while searching the home of 55-year-old Patrick Mikes Sr., whose body was found dumped in a Montrose Township field Aug. 10. Evidence included bloody clothing, a sleeping bag and bedding. Oakland County's chief medical examiner previously testified that Mikes Sr. was struck in the head at least four times with an "oblong blunt object" like a pipe or baseball bat. Mikes Jr. faces up to life in prison if convicted. He's pleaded not guilty. His arraignment in Oakland County Circuit Court is scheduled by Oct. 15. Published: Wed, Oct 3, 2012
