Meinecke sworn in to district court

An investiture and swearing in ceremony was conducted Thursday, Jan. 17, at Royal Oak Middle School for Oakland County 44th District Court Judge Derek Meinecke (left).

Happy to swear in his successor was recently retired Oakland County 44th District Court Judge Daniel Sawicki (right).

Before getting elected to the bench in the November 2012 election, Meinecke served more than 10 years in the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office prosecuting the most serious violent offenders and working with the most vulnerable victims as a member of the special victims unit focused on domestic violence, elder abuse, child abuse, and sexual assault.

Prior to that, he worked at the 44th District Court as law clerk to Judge Sawicki.
