Foundation sponsors summit for Michigan attorneys and veterans
U.S. veterans put everything on the line to protect the nation's freedom. Unfortunately, the majority of U.S. veterans are unaware of the benefits for which they are eligible from Veteran's Affairs. Recognizing this as a problem, the Canton Community Foundation is conducting the 4th Annual Veterans' Summit on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 11-12, at Laurel Manor in Livonia.
Day one of the Summit is restricted to attorneys and professional veteran advocates who are looking for their required continuing education credits for VA certification (the only opportunity of its kind in Michigan). Topics covered will include:
* Practical tips for working with the VA.
* Veteran case law update.
* VA policy updates.
* Ethics.
* CLE through State Bar of Texas.
Attendees will receive 3 credits of continuing legal education, with 1/2 credit in ethics.
Day two of the Summit is dedicated entirely to veterans and their families. Experts educate attendees as to their entitled benefits and how to obtain them.
Following the formal program, veterans will have an opportunity to meet with VA representatives and other advocates to help them solve their specific problems, and to visit the Expo to check out sponsors' booths. This event is free to veterans.
For details on times and costs or to register for this event, go to www.cantonfoundation.org or call Beth Meade at 734-495-1200.
