Ambulance Chase 5K to be conducted at Wayne Law, Sept. 26

Wayne State University Law School's annual Ambulance Chase 5K pokes fun at the stereotype of the ambulance-chasing lawyer and helps support a good cause. This year's event will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, and as in years past starts and finishes in front of the law school, 471 W. Palmer St. Participants begin by actually "chasing" an ambulance. The 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) walk/run, now in its 29th year, laps parts of the campus on sidewalks. Registration fee is $25 for WSU students or $35 for others. The entry fee includes a T-shirt and a post-race barbecue dinner outside the law school. Sponsored by the Wayne Law Student Bar Association Board of Governors, the Ambulance Chase helps support that group and also benefits Cass Community Social Services, a Detroit charity helping those in need. Register for the event online at law.wayne.edu/ambulance2014, and include T-shirt size. On race day, participants are asked to check in at the registration table in the law school's Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium between 5 and 6 p.m. Runners and walkers will get their T-shirts there and race packets, as well. Those registering on the day of the event aren't guaranteed a T-shirt. Race finish times will be recorded and posted immediately after the race by timing services.
