Rochester Area Neighborhood House, a nonprofit organization, has announced the acquisition of a permanent, local facility that will house client services. The new facility was acquired from Crittenton Hospital. Generous anonymous donors underwrote the initial purchase.
Kathy Losinski, chair of the Board of Directors, commented, "We are so excited for Neighborhood House to have a house of its own! It means that we will have a facility that can provide more effective services and expand our reach. We are so grateful for the generous philanthropy of the amazing people that allowed us to cover the price of purchase."
Mark Kilbourn, executive director, said, "The Rochester area is known for its concern for people and support of those who serve them. The community has grown to depend on Neighborhood House to be there for their neighbors in need at moments of hardship. Our goal is to help our neighbors rebuild their lives and move to self-sufficiency."
It is anticipated that Neighborhood House will take occupancy later in the year. The current facility is part of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rochester, who has generously donated space for over 45 years. Neighborhood House is in the quiet phase of a fundraising campaign to allow occupancy and client services in the near future.
Neighborhood House operates a clothes closet and food pantry at other locations. The new facility will be additional to those locations.
Rochester Area Neighborhood House serves Rochester, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Oakland Township, and Addison Township with temporary food, financial assistance, clothing, transportation, counseling, and case management. The organization is supported by philanthropy, community organizations, and volunteers.
