Foster Swift is sponsoring the Annual James Hunter Golf Classic for a third consecutive year. The classic will take place on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Crystal Lake’s “The Links.” This event raises money to provide mentoring and tutoring programs for at-risk kids. Last year 18 scholarships totaling $16,000 were awarded due to fundraising efforts.
James Hunter was a defensive back for the Detroit Lions, and ranks seventh for all time interceptions in Lions’ history. Hunter played in 86 games before his career-ending neck injury in 1982. He was a passionate philanthropist who gave to numerous causes, including serving as co-chair to the “Boys to Men Mentoring Program” at his church, inspiring the James Hunter Golf Classic.
