Oakland County is making it easy for families to develop an emergency preparedness plan during National Preparedness Month this September, County Executive L. Brooks Patterson announced last week. Residents can download the “Our Emergency Plan” form from the county’s Homeland Security Division webpage at OakGov.com/HomelandSecurity and just fill in the blanks.
“We can never say it enough – preparedness saves lives,” Patterson said. “This form will enable families to make emergency plans in a matter of minutes. We encourage not just Oakland County families but anyone in the state of Michigan to fill it out.”
The “Our Emergency Plan” form has eight steps to completing a family emergency preparedness plan including identifying escape routes and meeting places; planning for children, pets, and individuals with special health needs; listing emergency contacts, and more.
“The theme this year for National Preparedness Month is Don't Wait. Communicate. Make Your Emergency Plan Today” said Theodore H. Quisenberry, manager of Oakland County Homeland Security Division. “Oakland County has simplified that process for families by making this form available on our website.”
