DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Institute of Arts has received grants to support conservation work at the museum and digitizing artworks from its collection.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services recently awarded the museum $150,000 over two years to digitize artworks within the museum’s department of Prints, Drawings and Photographs. The collection includes nearly 22,000 objects.
The museum says it also was awarded two grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, including nearly $45,000 for a digital X-ray processor. It will allow conservators to more easily view, share and store X-ray images and preserve artworks.
The DIA also received a $54,000 grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs to support general operating expenses.
