On Wednesday, March 30, Oakland County Commissioner Marcia Gershenson (far left) presented a proclamation to Dana Burnstein (third from left) who was the driving force for establishing the Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic in honor of her late husband, Dr. Gary Burnstein. Happy to congratulate Ms. Burnstein were (left to right) Dr. Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic Executive Director Justin Brox;  son, Ian Burnstein; daughter, Lori Taylor; and Oakland County Commissioner David Bowman.  Ms. Burnstein continues the legacy of service started in 1997 by her husband, a cardiologist, who started caring for patients from a local shelter in Pontiac.  Dr. Burnstein died in September of 2003.  His family honored his dream by providing free healthcare.  At the clinic, Ms. Burnstein serves as the chief executive officer.  She is committed to work on behalf of the underserved and underinsured by providing free medical services.  Ms. Burnstein has served as a member of the ORT America Board and has been the regional president of the Women’s ORT.  Burnstein also served on the Jewish Hospice Board of Directors and the Chaplaincy Network Board of Directors.
