Nexcess cuts ribbon on state-of-the-art Southfield facilities

Nexcess, a Southfield-based data center and managed hosting company, welcomed community leaders for a ribbon cutting last Thursday at two new facilities that will double its local footprint in Oakland County.

"We're proud of our roots, and opening new facilities in Southfield demonstrates our steadfast commitment to our hometown," said Chris Wells, CEO of Nexcess. "Over the past five years, Nexcess has doubled our local employment in Southfield, and we're still hiring, thanks to growth in our industry, dedication by our world-class employees, and strong partnerships across Oakland County."

"Nexcess provides a shining example of a local business working in partnership with local government to thrive," said Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver. "Nexcess is proactive and engaged in Southfield, regularly updating leaders about its plans, asking how to give back to the community, and seeking to create a win-win."

"Southfield is a great place to do business, and we're pleased to see Nexcess expanding its footprint in the community," said Tanya Markos-Vanno, president of the Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce. "Nexcess is an integral partner in the Southfield business community and exemplifies the opportunity Southfield and Oakland County present for local business expansion."

Founded in 2000 in Southfield, Nexcess has expanded from a small, local company to a global leader in data center and IT services operating data centers in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and the Netherlands. The company has more than doubled local employment in just six years, bringing high-tech jobs to the area and putting Oakland County on the map as a destination for skilled IT workers.

Nexcess currently operates major data center facilities in Southfield and Dearborn. The two new spaces total nearly 13,000 square feet, more than doubling seating capacity for the company's Southfield operations, which operate around the clock.

Nexcess is a managed data hosting company founded in 2000, with wholly-owned data centers located in Dearborn and Southfield as well as several other locations worldwide. Nexcess offers a variety of hosting services ranging from entry-level packages to specially-catered clustered/complex configurations, with an emphasis on mission-critical hosting for high-profile and eCommerce sites.
