Executive director retiring from OMC

Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) announces that its executive director, Bonnie Hanes, will step down in the spring of 2017 after 18 years of dedicated service.  For 25 years, OMC has provided conflict resolution and education services that are quite affordable and quickly empower community members, families, businesses, courts and schools to resolve conflict.  OMC is an apolitical, non-profit, volunteer based Community Dispute Resolution Program (CDRP) center whose volunteers represent and serve the community.

The OMC Board expresses its tremendous gratitude to Hanes for her years of service, vision and leadership.  She has dedicated 18 years to OMC’s development, growth and sustainability.  In doing so, she empowered thousands of children, families and individuals to resolve conflict and enjoy brighter tomorrows.  Under Hanes’ leadership, OMC has increased hours of mediation services provided to the community by 51% and specifically in services to families in divorce, guardianship, school and special education over 300%.  She also guided the agency in fundraising efforts that now support educational programs in schools proven to reduce conflict and bullying. Her efforts have resulted is sustainability while maintaining fees that permit access for everyone from all socioeconomic backgrounds.

“Bonnie’s dedication to OMC is well known,” noted Tom Nantais, board president.  He adds, “Her commitment has helped create a more collaborative society in Oakland County, Michigan.  On a personal level, I value her insights and leadership.  It has been a pleasure working with her, and I wish her continued success in her next chapter.”

Hanes will be moving into a consulting role to assist with special projects including the development of a long-term business growth and marketing plan.

“2015 marked a milestone as OMC celebrated its 25 year anniversary,” noted Nantais.  “We have a goal to make an even greater impact in Oakland County and our new executive director will have a direct hand in helping us achieve that goal.”

OMC will be conducting a search to identify the next executive director.  Details of the search process will be posted at www.mediation-omc.org.  Inquiries about the position can be sent to bhanes@mediation-omc.org.
