Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren (fifth from left) took part in a mock trial that was presented Tuesday, Nov. 22, by the Macomb County Bar Foundation dealing with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The proceedings centered on whether Lee Harvey Oswald alone assassinated Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963. Also taking part in the event at the Macomb County Center for the Performing Arts were (left to right) Macomb County 37th District Court Chief Judge John Chmura; attorney Steven Kaplan, a former assistant Macomb County prosecutor; Macomb County 39th District Court Judge Joseph Boedeker; attorney Laura Polizzi; Casandra Ulbrich, Macomb Community College vice president of advancement and community relations; Macomb County Probate Court Judge Carl Marlinga; retired Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Peter Maceroni; attorney Ryan Zemke; and Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. During the trial, for which the audience served as the grand jury and voted at the conclusion of the case, Marlinga argued that Oswald was the lone gunman while Kaplan argued for conspiracy theorists. Maceroni, who served as presiding judge, said Kennedy “inspired us to public service and to make our country and the world a better place. I don’t believe the nation ever fully got over this tragic event.”
