DETROIT (AP) - A judge says a federal subpoena served on the Detroit Land Bank Authority as part of an investigation into the city's demolition program will be unsealed public Jan. 12.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Allen said Tuesday that time is running out for the federal government to use the ongoing investigation as a shield against Michigan's public records law.
The Detroit Free Press reports lawyers for the federal government have fought to keep the subpoena private because it includes details about the nature and scope of the investigation.
Detroit's federally funded program to demolish blighted properties has been under review amid questions about its costs and bidding practices.
Local activist Robert Davis sued the Land Bank three months ago for denying his public records request for the document.
