The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will present a labor and technology seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 115 of the Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.
The Technology and Labor Committees of the FBA’s Eastern District of Michigan Chapter are presenting “Whose Data Is It Anyway? The Role of Personal Data Infrastructure in Company Legal Matters,” a primer on recent case law developments and current issues. Topics include:
• How do courts view “possession, custody, and control” under Rule 34 and the discovery of data on employees’ devices and accounts?
• Can Rule 26’s proportionality principles be applied to nontraditional or unusual data sources?
• What practical steps can (or should) employers take to protect company interests?
Panelists will include Megan McKnight of Plunkett Cooney; U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Stafford; Yasir Muhammad of the Kitch Firm; Mark St. Peter of Computing Source; and Dante Stella of Dykema.
