Oakland County 52nd District Court gets high marks in statewide survey

The public gave Oakland County 52nd District Court high marks for the fourth year in a row in a statewide survey conducted by the Michigan Supreme Court and the State Court Administrative Office. The survey asked court users whether courts were accessible, timely and fair.

“Because we serve the public, their views play an important role in helping us to determine how to improve court operations,” said Chief Judge Julie A. Nicholson. “I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of the judges and staff at 52nd District Court. They strive to provide better and more efficient services to the individuals who use the courts.”

Over 85 percent of survey respondents said 52nd District Court staff, magistrates and judges treated them with courtesy and respect; 80 percent said they were able to complete their court business in a reasonable amount of time; and 77 percent said the district court handled their cases fairly.

Among those who participated in the survey were parties to cases, attorneys, jurors, and other users of the court. The survey results help courts to identify strengths, provide positive feedback to employees, and target areas for improvement.

The public satisfaction survey is a statewide initiative of the Michigan Supreme Court and the State Court Administrative Office. Survey participants throughout Michigan have completed nearly 100,000 surveys since 2013.
