Oakland County Auction to feature cars and more, May 13

A souped-up classic 1975 Oldsmobile Delta Royale with only 52,000 miles on the odometer is among the 118 vehicles up for bid at the Oakland County Auction on Saturday, May 13. Another car expected to draw interest is the silver 2015 Ford Mustang with an EcoBoost® engine that generates 300-plus horsepower. It has just over 22,000 miles on the odometer.

“The Oakland County Auction is highly anticipated every year because of some of the unusual vehicles available on our lot,” County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “Plus, there’s always a variety of unique items that can be had by the highest bidder.”

Among the stand-out items this year are a Sony Playstation VR, a Pioneer Happy Malibu slot machine, and an iMac computer which is still in its factory-sealed box. In addition, there is a Samsung 65-inch curved TV.

“With items like these, it’s no wonder that we have a couple thousand people attend the auction,” said J. David VanderVeen, director of central services whose department oversees the auction. “It’s definitely best to pre-register for this event.”

Other merchandise of note includes money counting machines, a Sentry safe, a Winchester spotting scope with case, and security cameras. As always, there are assorted power tools, laptops, televisions, game consoles, minibikes, and more.

Public preview of all auction items will begin Saturday, May 13 at 8 a.m. at the county’s Vehicle Operations Building, 1200 N. Telegraph, Building 16 East, in Pontiac. Those who wish to inspect only the vehicles up for auction may do so Friday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The general auction gets under way at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by the vehicle auction at noon. Gates close at 3 p.m. Individuals who are unable to pre-register online may also pre-register on site Friday during vehicle inspection hours.
