As consumers, employees and other stakeholders learn the value of a greener social footprint, businesses and municipalities are incorporating sustainability into their planning strategies. The Oakland County Bar Association and the Detroit Chapter of the United States Green Building Council will present a seminar intended to provide attorneys with an overview of the issues inherent in creating a sustainability plan and the tools they need to help clients implement one.
“The Value of Going Green: Sustainability Measure for Oakland County Businesses and Beyond” takes place on Tuesday, June 6, at 9 a.m. at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.
This program features a panel of legal and corporate sustainability experts using an engaging case-history approach to teach attendees how corporations, municipalities and universities currently execute sustainability plans.
Panelists include Scott Beckerman, Comerica senior vice president & chief sustainability officer; Julie Bogas, partner in Sustainability Services for PricewaterhouseCoopers; William Hall, director of Sustainability and Kyle Jones, chief environmental counsel at FCA US LLC; and Professor Joseph Veryser, Lawrence Technological University Center for Sustainability. Emile Lauzanna, director of the Detroit Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, will moderate.
The panel will discuss the importance of sustainability, the value proposition of sustainability for businesses, governmental bodies overseeing sustainability and the role of consulting firms in instituting a new corporate policy.
