Carl B. Bolden Jr.
Carl B. Bolden Jr. passed away peacefully on January 25 at the age of 84.
Bolden was an avid reader with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He loved vacationing with family, spending time with friends, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Michigan Wolverines. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Bolden earned a B.A. in Business Administration from the Detroit Institute of Technology and a law degree from Detroit College of Law.
Bolden started practicing law in 1968 and eventually formed his own law firm, Bolden and Blake, serving clients for more than 30 years. He was a member of several bar associations, a panelist on the Attorney Discipline Board, former president of Wright Mutual Insurance Co., past president of Detroit Institute of Commerce, board member and legal counsel of the Booker T. Washington Business Association, board member Greater Woodward CDC, and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Bolden is survived by his wife of 56 years Letitia; son Carl (Tanya) Bolden III; daughter Lisa Bolden; and granddaughters Carli and Taya.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. at McFall Brothers Funeral Home, 9419 Dexter in Detroit. Celebration of life will take place Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. (10 a.m. family hour) at St. Matthew’s & St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 8850 Woodward in Detroit.
