Commissioner offering 'Water Infrastructure 101' dialogues

Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash will kick-off a series of year-long Water Infrastructure 101—“What You Need to Know Below and Beyond” discussions. During the month of May, Nash will recognize National Infrastructure Week from May 14 to May 21, by hosting two discussions.

The first of two discussions will begin Tuesday, May 15, at the Holly Public Library, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The library is located at 1116 N. Saginaw Street in Holly. On Monday, May 21, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the second discussion will be held in the Southfield Public Library, located at 26300 Evergreen Road in Southfield.

The public will have the opportunity to ask a variety of questions ranging from aging infrastructure, water quality, stormwater and lakes. Home infrastructure tips, Oakland County Water Commission infrastructure projects, employment opportunities and the Water Residential Assistance Program (WRAP) are some of the topics that Nash will also cover. Questions and answer opportunities for the public and feedback are part of these free discussions.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with area libraries to speak about the importance of water infrastructure and to promote National Infrastructure Week. I look forward to engaging with the public and sharing valuable information with the various communities beyond the week,” said Nash. Discussions are scheduled for libraries in Bloomfield, Brandon, Pontiac, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, and Oxford, which are part of the ongoing informational infrastructure library series.
