Seminar offers GAL and appointed attorney training, September 13

The Oakland County Bar Association will present “Probate Court: GAL and Appointed Attorney Training” on Friday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. Check-in and continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m.

Attendees will find out everything they need to know to receive appointments through Oakland County Probate Court. Topics of discussion will include: Legal overview of adult guardianships and conservatorships; Duties of defense attorneys and guardians ad litem; The appointment process;  Legal overview of involuntary mental health treatment; and Legal overview of developmentally disabled guardianships

Speaking at the program will be Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Kathleen A. Ryan; Barbara P. Andruccioli, Oakland County Probate Court register; attorney Jeffrey R. Coval; Edward A. Hutton III, Oakland County Probate Court administrator; and attorney Heather L. Lewis, with Oakland County Corporation Counsel.
