Lansing: Mitt Romney visits Michigan to aid Rick Snyder
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney says he's endorsing fellow Republican Rick Snyder for Michigan governor and will campaign with him this week.

Romney's travelledto Michigan on Monday for campaign events with Snyder.

Snyder and Democratic Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero are competing to succeed Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who's barred from seeking re-election by term limits.

Romney said Sunday that Snyder's background as a businessman and "job-creator ... makes him uniquely qualified to lead Michigan through these challenging economic times."

Bernero told WJR-AM last week that his government experience gives him tools Snyder hasn't shown that will be needed by Michigan's next governor.

Superior Township: Drug raid target dies after deputies stun him
SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department says the target of a drug raid died after deputies used a stun gun to subdue him. Sheriff's spokesman Derrick Jackson said Sunday that state police are investigating because deputies are involved.

Jackson says deputies were assisting with a drug raid Friday afternoon in Superior Township.

He says 31-year-old Stanley H. Jackson fled into a house, then struggled with deputies, who used a stun gun in arresting him.

The spokesman says an emergency medical services crew was called as a matter of routine. He says the suspect was alert then and on arrived at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital but later died there.
