Wayne State University Law School students, faculty and staff members gathered for Wayne Law’s inaugural Service Day on Saturday, Aug. 28. The event took place from noon to 3 p.m. at Motor City Blight Busters in Detroit’s Artist Village. More than 30 volunteers pulled weeds, hauled trash and cleared debris in an effort to refurbish the city.
“This was truly a remarkable effort,” said Felicia Thomas, event coordinator and director of Recruitment and Enrollment. “It was touching to see the student and faculty response — even from those who could not be present. Everyone really pulled together and put forth 100 percent effort on this project. This day was not about the glitz and glamour of the legal profession, but about carrying out our mission, creating a sense of community within Wayne Law and supporting the efforts of those who are invested in building a new Detroit. I am so grateful for the dedication and hard work demonstrated in this effort and look forward to planning similar events in the future.”
