The Oakland County Probate Court hosted Judges Takaaki Shintaku (third from left) and Jun Mikami (third from right) of Japan for a day in March. The judges are in America to study court operations and judicial practices and, more specifically, the handling of a mental health docket. They arrived one day before the tsunami and earthquakes hit Japan. The judges were welcomed by Probate Judges (l-r) Daniel O’Brien, Kathleen Ryan, Elizabeth Pezzetti, and Linda Hallmark.
