California Wrongly convicted SF man files civil rights suit SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A man who served 18 years in prison for a San Francisco double murder he didn't commit has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city. The San Francisco Chronicle says 41-year-old Caramad Conley's suit claims police built their case with perjured testimony. The San Francisco federal suit was filed Friday. Caramad was released from prison a year ago after a judge ruled a police informant and star witness lied on the stand. Conley was sentenced to two life terms without parole for the April 1989 drive-by shooting deaths of Roshawn Johnson and Charles Hughes. California Judge upholds decision to expel wrestler FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- A judge has upheld a Central California school district's decision to expel a former wrestler who executed a "butt drag" wrestling move on an unwilling teammate. Fresno County prosecutors had dropped the sexual battery charge against the 17-year-old Buchanan High School senior for allegedly ramming his fingers into the rectum of a teammate. The teen filed a defamation lawsuit against the Clovis Unified School District, but a judge has now ruled that the district was within its legal right to expel the teenager. A federal civil rights suit is still pending. The Fresno Bee says court records show the district has agreed to pay $85,000 to settle a claim filed by the victim, but a lawyer for the district says the claim is still pending.
