Fakhoury Law Group and Global Detroit host reception October 18
Fakhoury Law Group, a Troy-based business immigration law firm, along with Global Detroit, will be hosting a special reception featuring the new award-winning book “Green Card Stories” on Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. The event, “Green Card Stories: The Human of the Immigration Debate,” will feature distinguished speakers and a panel discussion on the state of the U.S. immigration policy.

“Green Card Stories: The Human Face of the Immigration Debate” is hosted by Fakhoury Law Group and Global Detroit and will be held at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on October 18, and will offer guests a unique opportunity gain insights today’s immigration issues. All proceeds of the sale of the book at the event will go to Global Detroit, an effort to revitalize southeast Michigan’s economy by pursuing strategies that strengthen Detroit’s connections to the world and make the region more attractive and welcoming to immigrants, internationals, and foreign trade and investment as a means to produce jobs and regional economic growth.

Wayne County Probate Court 2012 attorney training October 4
The Wayne County Probate Court will conduct its 2012 attorney training session on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Auditorium in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 13th Floor (City Side). Two sessions will be held: Attorney Training from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Note that the 2012 attorney training program will be paperless. Registrants will receive their materials via e-mail with a link to the Court’s website (www.wcpc.us - Attorney Training - 2012 Attorney Training Materials). Items can be printed out and brought to the seminar. Also, attorneys are welcome to bring their laptops to the program; you will be able to pull up the handouts during the training sessions from the Court’s website, in addition to following the power point presentations by the speakers. Only a limited number of power plugs are available on site.

Attendance at one or both seminars is mandatory to become eligible to receive assignments from the Wayne County Probate Court (additional requirements must be met). All attorneys must attend the afternoon Attorney Training session (1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.). Attorneys who did not attend any of the attorney training programs from 1996-2011 must also attend the morning Attorney Training session (9 a.m. to noon).

The cost is $75 (whether you attend one or both sessions). Registration forms may be obtained from the Chief Deputy Probate Register’s Office of the Wayne County Probate Court, 1305 Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (use elevators closest to Woodward Ave.) or from the Court’s website at www.wcpc.us. On-site registration will also be available. For additional information, call Michael J. Important Note: If you do not obtain eligibility to receive appointments through this program, payment vouchers for any Probate Court assignments will not be honored by Wayne County.
