 High court appoints Berry to committee on jury instructions

The Michigan Supreme Court has appointed Judge Annette Jurkiewicz Berry of the Third Judicial Circuit to serve on the Committee on Model Criminal Jury Instructions.

Berry was originally appointed to the Committee on Model Criminal Jury Instructions in 2008. Berry is past president of the Michigan Judges Association and continues to serve as a member of the Michigan Judges Association executive board. In addition, Berry currently serves on the Michigan Judicial Council, State Bar of Michigan; Michigan Judicial Ethics Committee, State Bar of Michigan and as an American Bar Association delegate. Berry is the former chair of the Michigan Court Forms Committee, Circuit and District Section, State Court Administrators Office (SCAO), and she continues to serve on the Michigan Court Forms Committee in the General Civil and Miscellaneous Work Group section.

 

Wayne Law alumni among area’s top circuit court judges

 
Six Wayne State University Law School alumni have been named among the top circuit court judges in the metropolitan area by DBusiness magazine in its January/February edition.
The publication polled 18,200 attorneys in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties, asking for nominations for top circuit court judges based on criteria such as integrity, knowledge of the law, efficiency, and judicial temperament.
Of the top 21 judges named, nearly 30 percent are Wayne Law graduates.  They are:
• Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Nanci J. Grant, class of 1989.
• Washtenaw County Circuit Court Judge Timothy P. Connors, class of 1980.
• Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Connie Marie Kelley, class of 1981.
• Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Peter J. Maceroni, class of 1965.
• Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Wendy Lynn Potts, class of 1977.
• Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Joan E. Young, class of 1974.

 

Holiday Hours

 
The Michigan Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the State Court Administrative Office will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of President’s Day.
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of President’s Day.
The 36th District Court will be closed on Monday, Feb.. 17 in observance of President’s Day. Felony arraignment hearings will be held at the 34th District Court. The court will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
