On Feb. 21, WMU-Cooley Law School was recognized for outstanding student participation and membership at the annual Sixth Circuit spring meeting of the American Bar Association (ABA) - Law Student Division.
WMU-Cooley was honored with two Bronze Key Awards at the meeting. The awards represent WMU-Cooley's demonstration of active participation within the ABA. The first award was for WMU-Cooley having the highest number of ABA members in the region. The other was awarded for having the highest percentage of members, based on school enrollment.
There to accept the awards on WMU-Cooley's behalf was Auburn Hills Student and the ABA Law Student Division Sixth Circuit Governor, Samantha Jonas.
"It is such an honor to accept the Bronze Key Awards on behalf of WMU-Cooley," said Jonas. "I'm proud of the commitment that the school has demonstrated towards the ABA, as well as all the hard work of my fellow classmates."
The sixth circuit encompasses ABA Law Student Divisions at schools in Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. The Spring Circuit meeting was held in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was designed to bring law students together to exchange ideas and develop camaraderie. Participants at the meeting discussed issues facing law students and legal education, debated issues of public policy affecting law students, exchanged ideas for enhancing legal education and expanded their network with other law students and practicing attorneys.
