OAKLEY, Mich. (AP) - The president of a small Michigan village says federal investigators are looking into its financial records.
Oakley village President Richard Fish tells The Saginaw News that the FBI asked for financial documents from a firm that performs the village's annual audit.
An FBI spokesman declined to comment. Fish says an investigation into village funds won't reveal any wrongdoing.
Since 2008, the village has banked on donations to its police department to add money to the general fund and cover police department costs. Some came from reserve officers. Fish says he doesn't expect donations this year.
The reserve police force for the Saginaw County community of about 300 people was shut down in September, but the village later voted to reinstate it. The department had more than 100 officers from around the state.
