Legal experts will discuss significant federal procurement developments at the American Bar Association Section of Public Contract Law 23rd Annual Federal Procurement Institute, March 15-18 at Loews Hotel in Annapolis, Md.
Topics covered include changes in commercial item contracting, tips for effective advocacy, navigating bid protests, the risks of business deals and transactions with government contractors and issues keeping government and in-house counsel awake at night.
Highlights of the program agenda include:
-"Not off the Hook: Corporate Monitoring After a Procurement Fraud or Suspension/Disbarment Matter" This panel features corporate monitors and an ethics officer, who will discuss when and how companies use external corporate monitors in procurement fraud and suspension/disbarment proceedings and the steps necessary for a productive relationship for all parties.
- "Fishing in Commercial Waters: Changes in Commercial Item Contracting" A panel representing perspectives from agencies, private practice and in-house counsel will explore recent changes to commercial item acquisition.
-"Navigating the Sea of Ethics: Ethics Issues in the Specialized Field of Government Contracts" This presentation will cover a host of ethics issues specific to the government contracting community, including conflict issues in government contracts, ethical issues in communicating with nonlawyers within the government; ethical issues in representing the U.S. government and ethics in the changing world of electronic media.
