Detroit Association of Women’s Clubs ‘Lifting As We Climb’ Brunch

To commemorate Women’s History Month, the Detroit Association of Women’s Clubs will host a “Lifting As We Climb” Brunch from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at its historic clubhouse to celebrate the work of legal champions. Detroit Association of Women’s Clubs is located at 5461 Brush St. in Detroit. The brunch will feature a roundtable discussion of the #MeToo movement and other relevant women’s issues. Honorees include Chief Judge Denise Page-Hood and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan for their commitment and hard work on women’s causes. In addition, the recipient of the Dr. Rosa Gragg’s Lifting As We Climb Award will be announced. Dr. Rosa Gragg, often referred to as the other “Rosa” by Detroit historians, purchased the famous clubhouse that sits on the corner of Brush and Ferry in 1941, segregating the area now referred to as midtown. Neighbors were so resistant to integration, she was forced to move the porch and entrance of the house to the Brush side.

Tickets are $35 per person and are available at https://www.event brite.com/. Proceeds aid in the preservation of the clubhouse and support community activities.
