Governor signs legislation reducing regulatory burdens

Dozens of obsolete and unnecessary reporting requirements will be repealed under legislation signed today by Gov. Rick Snyder. Senate Bills 1001-1011 and House Bills 5990, 5993 and 5995-6005, sponsored by state Sens. Jim Stamas (1003), Peter MacGregor (1001 and 1011), Tom Casperson (1002), Wayne Schmidt, Marty Knollenberg (1005), Mike Shirkey (1006), Dale Zorn (1007), Margaret O'Brien (1008), Vincent Gregory (1009), and Mike Kowall (1010), as well as state Reps. Reps. Pamela Hornberger (5990), Steve Marino (5993), Brandt Iden (5995), Julie Alexander (5996), Joe Bellino (5997), Jeff Noble (5998), Michele Hoitenga (5999), Beau LaFave (6000), Steven Johnson (6001), Sue Allor (6002-6003), Daire Rendon (6004), and Roger Hauck(6005) repeal obsolete, duplicative, and unnecessary statutory reporting requirements throughout state government. The bills are now Public Acts 287-310 of 2018. Snyder also signed 12 additional measures: -HBs 5884-5888, sponsored by state Reps. Jeff Noble, Robert Kosowski, Steven Johnson, Joe Bellino, and Abdullah Hammoud, respectively, repeals outdated laws dealing with hospital operations and sanitoriums related to tuberculosis treatment. The bills are now PAs 311-315 of 2018. -HB 5892, sponsored by state Rep. Sue Allor, repeals an outdated law dealing with Probation Recovery Camps which are no longer necessary nor utilized by the Michigan Department of Corrections. The bill is now PA 316 of 2018. -HB 5893-5895, sponsored by state Reps. Daire Rendon, Roger Hauck, and Beau LaFave, respectively, repeal outdated laws dealing with juvenile Conservation Rehabilitation Camps. The bills are now PAs 317-319 of 2018. -HB 5769, sponsored by state Rep. Daire Rendon, removes unnecessary and outdated legislation referencing boys' vocational school, which no longer exists. The bill is now PA 320 of 2018. -HB 5738, sponsored by state Rep. Jeffrey Noble, repeals outdated appropriations for the Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin Interstate Boundary Compact. The bill is now PA 321 of 2018. -HB 5741, sponsored by state Rep. Beau LaFave, repeals the Wisconsin Michigan boundary commission. The bills are now PA 322 of 2018.
