The third graduating class of the Combat Veterans’ Treatment Court in Oakland County was honored October 4 during a commencement program in courtroom of Circuit Judge Nanci Grant, pictured at left. Judge Grant, who presides over the Veterans’ Treatment Court, helped establish the program in 2015 as a means of assisting “eligible United States military veterans in meeting the terms and conditions of their probation by providing judicial oversight, case management team assistance, mentoring, mental health and substance abuse treatment, as well as readjustment counseling.” Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget McCormick (right), who has been a key proponent of the treatment court initiative, was the featured speaker at the commencement ceremony.
