Judge Stephens to receive award from Detroit Women’s Association of Women’s Clubs at brunch

March is Women’s History Month.

The Detroit Women’s Association of Women’s Clubs was organized in April 1921, and Dr. Rosa Gragg purchased the historical Clubhouse in 1941. Dr. Gragg was a visionary and pioneer for women and social justice and played key roles in several Presidents’ administrators. The Detroit Association of Women’s Clubs celebrates Women’s History Month with a brunch and honors inspirational women and organizations dedicated to women and social justice issues.

On March 30, Judge Cynthia Stephens will receive the Dr. Rosa Gragg’s “Lifting As We Climb Award” for her decades of committed judicial and community service.

Stephens has served in the judiciary since 1981 and on the Michigan First District Court of Appeals since 2008. Stephens also currently serves as a judge on the Michigan Court of Claims. The Michigan Bar has acknowledged Stephens for her “deep vision and keen intelligence” and she continues to chair and champion efforts to ensure the effective delivery of high quality legal services to all.

The “Young Woman Lifting As We Climb Award” will be presented to State Rep. Khyra Bolden. Bolden is serving her first term and is committed to serving the people of the 35th House District in Lansing by creating opportunities for better employment, prioritizing education, and repairing Michigan roads.
