Wayne Law earns Best Value ranking for seventh year

For the seventh consecutive year, Wayne State University Law School has been recognized as a Best Value Law School by The National Jurist and its sister publication, preLaw magazine.

Of the 60 law schools on the list for 2020, Wayne Law was the only Michigan law school included. The ranking is designed to recognize the law schools where graduates have excellent chances of passing the bar and getting a legal job without taking on a ton of debt, according to publication.

Criteria for selection includes ultimate bar pass rate and recent two-year pass rate, modified employment rate, tuition, cost of living and average student debt accumulation.
preLaw magazine also recognized Wayne Law among the top law schools in the category of Business Law, out-ranking all other law schools in the state.

Jingle Mingle with Bench and Bar program Dec. 10

The Jingle Mingle with the Bench and Bar 2020 event will take place via Zoom on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 4:30-6 p.m.

The event, presented by the Detroit Bar Association, will offer the opportunity to network with judges, according to a spokesperson for the DBA.

“Please plan to join the Detroit Bar for a unique event to kick off the holiday season and connect with fellow lawyers and jurists outside of the (virtual) courtroom,” the spokesperson said. “No programs, no briefs, no motions – only friendly debates and holiday festivities.”

The cost is $25 for DBA members and $35 for non-members. Contact Julie Van Hove at (313) 549-7939 or by e-mail at jvanhove@detroitlawyer.org to register or to help sponsor the event.

Members of ACC-MI can tour SPY Museum online December 8

The Association of Corporate Counsel-Michigan Chapter (ACC-MI) for its Winter Social will present a virtual SPY Cocktail Party, hosted by the International SPY Museum in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, December 8, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Guests will be able to mingle with fellow in-house counsel, drink in hand—wearing disguise attire if they choose—while hearing tantalizing spy tales about James Bond and real life spies that gave him a run for his money.  Attendees will discover the shadow world of spying as their team of agents conduct a virtual infiltration of the SPY Museum from the comfort and security of their own “safe house.”

This event is complimentary and is only open to ACC-MI members and in-house counsel non-members. Space is limited.  To register, visit www.acc.com/chapters-networks/chapters/michigan and click on “events.”  Brooks Kushman is sponsoring the event.

Anyone with questions can contact ACC-MI Executive Director Nicole Smith at michigan@accglobal.com.
