Wayne and Macomb face off in Pryder Cup


The 2nd annual Pryder Cup was conducted on Thursday, August 14, at Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods, pitting members of the Macomb County Probate Bar Association against Wayne County probate attorneys. The format is based on the Ryder Cup competition. Court of Appeals reverses patient abuse case

The Michigan Court of Appeals has sided with three former nursing home workers who challenged convictions of mistreating the body of a newly deceased patient.

In response to the Aug. 14 appellate decision, a state lawmaker announced plans to introduce legislation that would expand current statutes to protect the bodies of those who died in senior care facilities.

"Protecting the dignity of individuals and their families in our community is important," said State Rep. Steve Bieda. "We need to act on behalf of those who cannot stand up for themselves to ensure respectful treatment. ...
