State Bar names attorney Weber to Legal Institute advisory committee

Karl Weber, the managing partner of the Marquette office of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, was recently appointed as a member of the Upper Michigan Legal Institute Advisory Committee by the President of the State Bar of Michigan. 

Serving a four-year term, Weber will assist other Upper Michigan Legal Institute Advisory Committee members in achieving their primary mission, which is the development of an annual legal education seminar focusing on the practice needs of northern Michigan attorneys.

Weber is an accomplished trial lawyer with extensive experience in personal injury, civil and probate litigation. In addition to his litigation practice, Weber has served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Northern Michigan University and as Chief Appellate Judge for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He also serves as director for Range Bank and Range Financial Corporation, and he is a member of the finance committee for St. Peter’s Cathedral.

Weber is admitted to practice in the states of Michigan and Minnesota, and he has tried numerous cases in both of these states, including the U.S. District Courts for Michigan and the District of Minnesota. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for Wisconsin. 

A 1986 graduate of the University of Michigan, Weber also received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1990.
