Miller Canfield law firm expands China practice

The law firm of Miller Canfield announced last week that Yanping Wang has joined the firm as a principal and resident director of its Shanghai office, further expanding the firm’s international footprint. A native of China, Yanping Wang has been a Chinese lawyer and is licensed to practice in the U.S. She will join the firm’s Corporate Group and China Team, focusing on corporate transactions and assisting clients in doing business in and with China. She has extensive experience in corporate, customs protection, employment, foreign exchange, intellectual property, and real estate law.

Wang joins the firm’s expanding China Team. Miller Canfield also recently announced that lawyer Amber Liu joined the firm, working out of its Chicago office. A native of China, Liu has several years of experience as a corporate lawyer in China and in the U.S. She is licensed to practice in Illinois and New York and travels often between the U.S. and China.

“Yanping Wang and Amber Liu are great additions to our growing China Team and help expand our services to clients. They bring vast China-U.S. business experience and legal knowledge, especially helping clients investing, exporting and operating in China,” said Richard A. Walawender, director of the firm’s Corporate Group.

Yanping Wang joins Miller Canfield from another U.S.-based firm, where she was partner-in-charge of its Shanghai office and co-chair of its China Group. She received her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law, and LL.M. in civil and commercial law from Renmin University of China and an LL.B. in law with honors from the China University of Political Science and Law.
