Michigan Supreme Court Justice-elect Bridget McCormack to receive award

The friends and family of the Honorable Kaye Tertzag will host the Fourth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner on Thursday, February 28, 2013. Judge Tertzag passed away on February 4, 2009, having established a great legacy of integrity and service to the State of Michigan, as well as a great example of love and devotion to his family and legion of friends.

To preserve and honor his memory, the Fourth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner will be held at the Park Place Banquet Hall in Dearborn from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Park Place is located at the corner of Park and Outer Drive, just south of Michigan Avenue. Tickets are $40.00 and include dinner and an open bar.

The Tertzag Tribute Dinner Committee is pleased to announce that the 2013 recipient of the Purple Sport Coat Award is Michigan Supreme Court Justice-Elect Bridget Mary McCormack.  Hon. David J. Allen (last year’s recipient) will present her the award.  Justice-Elect McCormack shares Judge Tertzag’s passion for education.  A former Yale professor, she has served as the clinical director for the University of Michigan Law School’s Innocence Project before her election to the Michigan Supreme Court this November.  McCormack exemplifies Judge Tertzag’s motto: Be Prompt. Be Prepared. Be Polite.

The committee is truly honored to have Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra as the keynote speaker.  Judge Tertzag and Justice Zahra were great friends and once served together on the Wayne County Circuit Court.  Justice Zahra served four years on the Wayne County Circuit Court and twelve years on the Michigan Court of Appeals before Gov. Rick Snyder appointed him to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2011.  We are excited to hear his message fresh off of his election victory.

We will end the evening by continuing the tradition started by Kaye’s daughter, Kara Tertzag Lividini—the Sambuca toast.

Attendees are encouraged to wear purple to the event.  Those wearing purple will be entered into a drawing for a door prize.

Checks should be made payable to: Tertzag Tribute Dinner, LLC and sent to 997 Henrietta, Birmingham, MI 48009. Spouses and/or significant others are welcome.  This event will sell out and space is limited, so please buy your tickets now.  Please direct questions to Kara Tertzag Lividini at 313.645.9511 or ktertzag@gmail.com.  Please feel free to send this message to anyone you think would be interested in attending the event.  This is not a political fundraiser.
